5D Cost

Cost that moves when the model does.

Rates against quantities, and the change report that explains the variance.

Cost plans go stale the moment the model moves. The quantities are re-measured by hand, and the version they came from is anybody’s guess.

How it’s made

The Starter template with rates attached. Filter to the elements being priced, pivot the quantity properties into columns, and join your rate library on the external ID.

How Frame builds it

This one started as the Starter template

Route A · Power Query Duplicate assets filter to your scope Merge properties then pivot to columns Route B · export it Export to CSV from the assets query Ask an AI to join rates to quantities Your report external ID intact
Whichever route you take, the external ID has to survive the reshaping — it is what links your table back to the model and drives selection in the viewer.

We built this one by exporting the asset query and having an AI assistant do the join — the only real instruction being to keep the external ID. Once it is wired, a design change moves the quantities and the cost follows, and any total can be traced back to the elements it came from.
