Introduction
This guide shows Frame users how to analyze Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) or local uploaded models from inside Excel. By connecting the BIM Frame add-in, you can review geometry, export properties, and assemble reports without leaving your spreadsheet.
Upload or Connect ACC Models in Frame
- Sign in to the Frame dashboard.
- Upload a new model or connect an ACC project under
Add model -> Add from local or add from ACC. - Choose the models you need. Frame will translate them for use across the workspace, including the Excel add-in.
Wait for Model Translation
Frame queues each upload for translation. You can monitor progress in the Frame dashboard. Once translation finishes, the models become available to connected apps such as Excel.

- Open Excel and go to
Insert > Get Add-ins(orOffice Add-ins). - Search for
BIM Frame. - Select the add-in and choose
Addto install it. If your IT team manages add-ins, contact them to approve the installation.
Sign In with Frame Credentials
- Open the BIM Frame pane in Excel.
- Click
Sign Inand enter your Frame email and password (or SSO, if enabled). - After authentication, the add-in loads the list of translated models available to your Frame account.
Work with Models and Sheets
- Select a model to open it in the embedded Frame viewer.
- Create new worksheets or use templates to organize properties and quantities.
- Export model properties directly into tables for further analysis.
- Interact with the 3D viewer and linked sheets simultaneously to explore data context.
With these steps complete, you are ready to build Excel reports using live Frame model data.
